ULI Washington NEXT Program Participant

ULI Washington NEXT Program Participant

What

ULI Washington’s NEXT program engages and supports mid-career members (i.e., age 35-50) as their responsibilities and leadership roles grow and they aim to expand their impact in their companies, careers, and communities while broadening their skillset.

The program is made up of four flights of approximately 35 members each. Guided by the Program Chairs and Flight Leaders, NEXT flights host meetings on a bi-monthly basis, organizing presentations of topical interest to their members for the purpose of promoting candid discussion from diverse perspectives. In addition, NEXT promotes opportunities to meaningfully participate in existing ULI Washington programs both at the ULI District Council level (e.g., Technical Assistance Program panels, UrbanPlan, and occasionally planning ULI-wide events), and at the ULI National level (e.g., Product Councils). These opportunities enable NEXT participants to remain active ULI Washington members during their rise to leadership positions within the industry.

NEXT is open to all active ULI Washington members that fall into the general 35-50.

NEXT will convene at least once every two months for regular 2-hour sessions. Sessions are normally scheduled on Thursday and Friday mornings and are hosted at either ULI Headquarters or by members of NEXT throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region. Topics for each session will be selected by the membership of each flight following the overall programming guidelines for the year.

Attendance is mandatory and group members will be required to help plan at least one of the Flight meetings during the year. At least six (6) sessions will be scheduled throughout the year in accordance with an annual schedule. Members will be required to attend at least four (4) of the six (6) sessions, and to actively participate in presenting and/or facilitating one or more of those sessions. Subject to the Flight Leader’s discretion, any member who fails to attend two (2) or more consecutive sessions will be removed from the membership.

Each flight will also be responsible for planning one program-wide event so that there is a total of four (4) events per year. These events can range from happy hours after work to family outings on a weekend.
