Renaming the old Sustainability PC:

The name and remit of the PC need to be agreed upon by those who become its members. We are aware that a lot has changed since the original Sustainability Product Council, and attitudes around this area have developed.

Ideas so far but by no means definitive:

  • Regenerative Sustainability PC
  • Sustainable & Regenerative Real Estate PCClimate Action in Real Estate PC
  • Sustainable Urban Development PC
  • Sustainable Development PC

The general purpose of the PC is as follows (but the ultimate remit and focus is to be defined by the council once in place).

  • To consider the world’s climate emergency and how the Real Estate industry is and should be responding.
  • To challenge and help define existing strategies for the RE/ Built Environment community.
  • To look at the bigger picture (not the minutia) and avoid an echo chamber within a particular discipline.
  • To agree on focus, value proposition, and how the group can stand out within the market.
  • To help grow the PC and ensure diversity.
  • Collaboration and Best Practice:
      • Collaborate inside and outside of the ULI.
      • To engage across the industry, ensuring a multi-disciplinary and holistic look at this agenda (interdisciplinary and integrated).
      • Share and disseminate knowledge, experiences, successes, and lessons learnt.
      • Network, join dots, and help organize events of interest.
  • Thought Leadership:
        • To review the long-term consequences of existing policy and practices within the RE industry.
        • To consider how RE can and should respond (consider issues over the next 10-20 years and where industry going).
        • To review trends (i.e. importance of regenerative ecosystems) and innovative practices.
        • To reflect on the status quo and existing mindsets.
        • To ask challenging questions and tackle thorny issues.
        • To collate observations and look at the big picture.
