New Housing Paradigms Forum Participant

New Housing Paradigms Forum Participant

*Please note: ULI Forums during the 2021 ULI Spring Meeting will take place virtually. Please visit for the schedule.

ULI Forums are a unique opportunity for ULI Full Members and invited non-member guests to convene during our Spring and Fall conferences, on the day prior to Product Council Day, to dive deeper into specific issues across the real estate spectrum. Forums are typically half-day formats comprised of round table sessions, panels and/or tours in host cities. In addition to these two meetings, Forums may choose to meet virtually between the Spring and Fall conferences and these meetings will be supported by ULI Staff. Forums may be comprised of a core membership plus invited guests or open to a limited number of attendees, dependent on the desire of each group and their leadership team.

The New Housing Paradigms Forum convenes members to discuss new housing models under development and best practices. We see a nationwide need for more and more-affordable housing options (including: student, workforce, age restricted, etc.), but current measures are still not providing what is needed. This forum should be solutions-oriented.

  • What is the role for market-rate developers in helping to create/build affordable housing?
  • Are there new models of housing (co-living, micro-units) that should be explored or encouraged among various populations or in certain cities?
  • Is there a way to build income achievable housing that not only serves populations under the current economic conditions, but also when the market takes a downturn?
  • Where can we find successful models and how can we adapt them to our cities?
  • Can we repurpose certain types of housing, or combine multiple needs in one development?
  • Is there a role for the private developer in helping to manage the jobs-housing mismatch? If not, could/should there be?
  • Who really holds the power to create and actualize change?
  • Why diversity matters in real estate, making the business case
  • How do transportation options impact housing options?

All ULI members are encouraged to apply for this opportunity. Some forums may have a core membership. If you are invited to be a core member you will be required to upgrade to full membership if you are not one already.

To be considered for participation, please make sure to 1) update your ULI member profile with your biography and profile information before 2) submitting your statement of interest in the Navigator form below.
