What

The Americas Young Leaders Group (YLG) Steering Committee is an opportunity for any Urban Land Institute member under 35 to participate at the Americas level. Committee participation is an important avenue for expanding networks and fostering industry relationships. The Americas YLG Steering Committee and subcommittees meet throughout the year to plan professional development and leadership events for members in this cohort, including, but not limited to, the YLG Experience at both the ULI Fall and Spring Meetings, virtual programs showcasing game-changing leaders and projects, support to the annual Young Leaders Exchange, as well as to provide data-enriched support for YLG District Council Chairs across the Americas that further the mission of ULI. Members of the Americas YLG Steering Committee are highly encouraged to attend the ULI Fall and Spring Meetings.

The Americas YLG Steering Committee supports the Urban Land Institute’s DEI Mission, “Pursue unrelenting efforts to shape the built environment toward diverse, equitable, inclusive communities.”

Subcommittees:

  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Subcommittee: The DEI subcommittee works hand in hand with the Steering Committee Chairs and subcommittee chairs to make sure all events and initiatives are executed through a diverse, equitable, and inclusive lens. Each member of this subcommittee serves as a liaison to the other subcommittees to uphold the ULI DEI mission.
  • Networks Subcommittee: Facilitate cross-channel communication, data sharing, and engagement among the 52 district councils YLG steering committees. As a member of this subcommittee you will connect with YLG chairs across an assigned region as a boots on the ground advocate for connection and growth.
  • Marketing Subcommittee: The Marketing subcommittee works closely with the Americas YLG Chairs and ULI’s UrbanLand Magazine staff to promote the voices, projects, and member experiences of young leaders in the network. Members of this committee will also support the planning, writing, and execution of the quarterly Americas YLG newsletter, an audience of about 25,000 members and prospects.
  • Programming Subcommittee: Plan, facilitate, and execute Americas-level programming and events for the Under 35 network while upholding and pursuing ULI’s broader mission and commitments to its members. As a member of this committee you will help support any of the following programing initiatives, the YLG Experience at Fall and Spring Meeting, quarterly virtual programs, and the annual Young Leaders Exchange.
  • Student Subcommittee: For ULI undergraduate and graduate student members, this subcommittee coordinates with ULI Learning and the University Connections team to support, engage, and retain Student members through their ULI journey. Each member of this group also serves as a liaison to each of the other
